canadian winter
Then another guy came running out of his house with 2 shovels.
Then a guy stopped and told us he was a paramedic and offered his help.
Nice people are out there.
Of maybe it's karma - if you're into that kinda thing.
A few weeks ago my girlfriend and I were returning from a home cooked meal courtesy of my mum. A hill we had to drive up on the way home was so icy that cars were sliding backwards down it. The two of us jumped out and pushed the car in front of us up. Then I proceeded to push our car up. Meanwhile, below us, the bottom of the hill was quickly become a chaos zone. As various people tried to go around each other, a city bus sat spinning it's tires endlessly. I thought, you know... if everyone just pushed the car in front of them up, this would be like clockwork.
Anyways. Winter sucks. Helpful people rule.
Become a helpful person.

screaming underwater

thank you all for a wonderful night at the legendary horseshoe tavern. i don't think i'm alone or being a disgustingly optimistic mutual smokeblower when i say that all the bands killed that night. So go check out These Electric Lives, In Transit and Stirling.
I also want to again thank Jamie for contributing to the set visually. Man's got some serious talent and we're happy to have him share it with us.
Check out more of his work here: JAU

Rock, Paper, Scissors

Our CD Release show at The Legendary Horseshoe Tavern is fast approaching. We've been sticking to a rigid and intense rehearsal schedule in order to fine tune our set. Our good friend Jamie (whom I mentioned earlier) is getting quite organized and involved in contributing to the set visually. It's actually starting to feel like we're rehearsing a show - what a concept! (PS - we're idiots).
Friends, Family and Loved Ones have been super supportive and helpful over the last few months. Helping us to keep our heads on. A certain amount of invisible hype is happening - which is strange and wonderful as we haven't even released this record yet. Thank you all. If you think you can help us, you probably can.
We've got some new shirts on the way, courtesy of design guru Cassie Scowcroft. You will be able to buy these at The Horseshoe.
I leave you with a clip from a discussion we had online a few nights ago.
emeri says: wait, we should rock paper scissors for who gets kicked out of the band this month.
greg says: Until then brainstorm.
greg says: I volunteer.
greg says: vote me off!
rob says: can it be me... please
emeri says: no man... thats why we rock paper scissors
greg says: hahaha
greg says: you win exile!
emeri says: its not fair... i would vote too.
Paul says: i'm already gone.....
See you Friday!

Postpartum
We've got 2 shows this week. One at the University of Waterloo, in the Student Life Center. We've played there before and it was pretty cool. Big open room, high ceilings, comfortable chairs. University aged people unintentionally making me feel old. "Who's that geezer playing guitar?" Who're you calling a geezer? I'm 52, and dyslexic. The other show is at eBar in Guelph. The eBar is a sweet venue so if you're able, come on out and see the show.
All the details are on our... Myspace.
Last Friday the lovely KLP had us on her show at CKMS. We played some acoustic adaptations of songs and spoke with her about what we're up to. Bill the soundman was most excellent. I will post some of the audio once we get a copy of it.

We've also been doing some obscure (and very cool) rehearsals with a friend of ours named Jamie. Maybe you'll see some of it at The Horseshoe CD release? It's very cool stuff. I find him to be one of those people that you just hit it off with instantly. Same vibes, same page, same ideas when it comes to quality.

I'd like to thank everyone who attended our Listening Party at The Children's Museum this past Saturday. I'd also like to thank our friends, families and loved ones for helping us with food, decorations, etc. You know who you are and we love you.
Big thanks to the Children's Museum for having us too. It is inarguably a very cool place. If you've never been, you should check it out.

Over and out.

At the Command of the Blanket Sky
Honestly, I thought it would be a breath of fresh air after we were done mixing... and now I'm realizing that I'll have to hold my breath for a little longer because there's still work to be done!
Artwork for the cd, promotion, blah blah blah (don't want to sound whiny).
But I can say that I am excited to start playing shows again and getting back into the groove of the live band.
We have some shows coming up in the near future, and would love to see anyone and everyone attend. (see link to preferred poison up top ^ )
This is Henry... signing off.

and happy new year
after spending a year on and off on this beast i tend to have good and bad days with it. in the end there is only neutral. it is what it is. i think we all want to hasten the recording process next time around. Of course without damaging the quality of the final product. Every record so far has been a huge and increasingly intense learning experience. Next time around I feel like we probably could start and finish the next project within a smaller window.
the saving grace is that now we get to go out and perform these songs, and hopefully for people who want to see them performed. that is one of the truly exciting parts of music. the collective experience. a chance to breathe new life into the songs and start writing again.
we're aiming to have it all ready for packaging by the 7th. that should put it in our hands for the end of the month. deadlines seem to be pretty publicly pointless with us, but they must serve some psychological purpose within the band or else we'd likely just terminate the use of them.
hey and by the way. we've been mixing in Qatalyst magazine's basement for the last month. check them out.
