canadian winter
Rob 360'd off the road in the van the other night after rehearsal. While we were trying to get out another driver stopped and offered us his shovel.
Then another guy came running out of his house with 2 shovels.
Then a guy stopped and told us he was a paramedic and offered his help.
Nice people are out there.
Of maybe it's karma - if you're into that kinda thing.
A few weeks ago my girlfriend and I were returning from a home cooked meal courtesy of my mum. A hill we had to drive up on the way home was so icy that cars were sliding backwards down it. The two of us jumped out and pushed the car in front of us up. Then I proceeded to push our car up. Meanwhile, below us, the bottom of the hill was quickly become a chaos zone. As various people tried to go around each other, a city bus sat spinning it's tires endlessly. I thought, you know... if everyone just pushed the car in front of them up, this would be like clockwork.
Anyways. Winter sucks. Helpful people rule.
Become a helpful person.

screaming underwater
thank you all for a wonderful night at the legendary horseshoe tavern. i don't think i'm alone or being a disgustingly optimistic mutual smokeblower when i say that all the bands killed that night. So go check out These Electric Lives, In Transit and Stirling.
I also want to again thank Jamie for contributing to the set visually. Man's got some serious talent and we're happy to have him share it with us.

Rock, Paper, Scissors
Our CD Release show at The Legendary Horseshoe Tavern is fast approaching. We've been sticking to a rigid and intense rehearsal schedule in order to fine tune our set. Our good friend Jamie (whom I mentioned earlier) is getting quite organized and involved in contributing to the set visually. It's actually starting to feel like we're rehearsing a show - what a concept! (PS - we're idiots).
Friends, Family and Loved Ones have been super supportive and helpful over the last few months. Helping us to keep our heads on. A certain amount of invisible hype is happening - which is strange and wonderful as we haven't even released this record yet. Thank you all. If you think you can help us, you probably can.
We've got some new shirts on the way, courtesy of design guru Cassie Scowcroft. You will be able to buy these at The Horseshoe.

White Out.
Another week gone. Zip. Zap. Zilch. SLC was cancelled… apparently we have snow storms in this part of the world.. go figure. The Ebar made up for it though… what a wicked place. So now we are getting together our set for the Horseshoe on Feb 22nd. It should be a blast. 11 days… How cool is that? Enough time to rehearse projected video imagery and whatnot? I am just full of questions.. hoping for answers but not really coming up with them. Will the CDs be back from their pressing?... I am going to maintain my hopeful status... the kind of hoping that keeps my nails short in choppy little chew marks.
Tomorrow we are starting some new songs. It has been a while.. should be interesting. Other than that.. yeah. Just kind of babbling like people do.

Postpartum
The year Two Thousand Eight has started off as a whirlwind. My brain only grudgingly accepts the fact that we vacated our humble home on Victoria Street 5 months ago. Timelines are a blur. We are now in the interesting slice of time between the record being complete and it being released. A doldrum of sorts. There are moments of excitement and anticipation and tunnel moments where all light vanishes and only darkness remains. Will anyone like it? Does it matter? Does that matter? I can say only for sure that we're happy with it and are ready to let it exit the womb, enter the world and begin it's own life.
We've got 2 shows this week. One at the University of Waterloo, in the Student Life Center. We've played there before and it was pretty cool. Big open room, high ceilings, comfortable chairs. University aged people unintentionally making me feel old. "Who's that geezer playing guitar?" Who're you calling a geezer? I'm 52, and dyslexic. The other show is at eBar in Guelph. The eBar is a sweet venue so if you're able, come on out and see the show.

Last Friday the lovely KLP had us on her show at CKMS. We played some acoustic adaptations of songs and spoke with her about what we're up to. Bill the soundman was most excellent. I will post some of the audio once we get a copy of it.
We've also been doing some obscure (and very cool) rehearsals with a friend of ours named Jamie. Maybe you'll see some of it at The Horseshoe CD release? It's very cool stuff. I find him to be one of those people that you just hit it off with instantly. Same vibes, same page, same ideas when it comes to quality.
I'd like to thank everyone who attended our Listening Party at The Children's Museum this past Saturday. I'd also like to thank our friends, families and loved ones for helping us with food, decorations, etc. You know who you are and we love you.
Big thanks to the Children's Museum for having us too. It is inarguably a very cool place. If you've never been, you should check it out.

Time has wings. What do I have to talk about? Our Listening Party at the Children’s Museum is approaching even faster (Feb 2nd). We are going to be on CKMS 100.3 at 11:00 am, on Friday the 1st, (KLP’s Sideshow Continuum). Doing an interview and some acoustic adaptations of songs off our new CD (At the Command of the Blanket Sky). All kinds of shakers, tambourines, glockenspiels and what not. What the hell is a Listening Party?
Interesting events are unfolding beneath us. Yesterday we were given the ‘low down’ and ‘walk through’ of the Children’s Museum. This is where we are having our Listening Party for, you guessed it ‘At the Command of the Blanket Sky’. It is February 2nd, Cash bar (that’s right). Pretty much a party so we can talk about ourselves. Blah, blah, blah. Do a lot of name dropping, try to look cool (but not quite pull it off). Talk and yammer and …. You get the picture.. smiles, nods. Sniff some butts. Have our butts sniffed (if we are lucky) and drink. But no.. really I do hope a lot of people show, and we can have a good time. Listen and wonder with fear and amazement what it all means. I am not really sure myself. A large finished product is a strange animal. It would be nice to celebrate it’s birth, whether it’s a beautiful bird, or a reproachable monster.. either way, it is ours, and we will let you look in the cage.. maybe give it a pat on the head. All I ask is that you will drink several beverages, eat some finger foods, and discuss what kind of shots it might need. Veterinary care, perches, scratching posts…you get the idea.
